I am directed by the Secretary of State for Air

to refer to Foreign Office letter of the 17th February,

No.1547/150/10, concerning the effect of Japanese action on

the operation of Imperial Airways' air service between Bangkok and Hong Kong.

2. Sir Kingsley ood agrees that no further action should be taken with regard to the notification by the Japanese Consul-Ceneral at Canton to which reference is made in r. Blunt's telegrams Nos. 3 and 9 of the 25th and 25t... January . The substance of these telegrams was communicated to the Company.

3. As regards the flight of the Company's aircraft in the neighbourhood of Reichow, I am to acquaint you for the informaation of the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs that the substance of "r. Blunt's telegram No. 11 of the 2nd February was also communicated to Imperial Airways immediately on receipt. Copies of two letters from the Company on the subject are enclosed nerewith. Lord Halifax will observe that in the second of those letters emphasis is laid on the difficulties in navigation arising out of the Japanese notification referred to in the telegram.

Sir Kingsley Rood concurs in the proposal to instruct his Majesty's Representative at Tokyo in the sense indicated in paragraph 3 of the Foreign office letter under reply.
